What tenants expect from their landlords

In the rental market of residential property in the UK there is a boom and it is not surprising that a growing number of new homeowners that come to the market in order to benefit .

A report published by the company CIA Insurance shows that over the past year, UK homeowners have received about £112 billion of income.

Being a landlord is a big responsibility and of course, the landlords would not hurt to know what makes tenants happy and ensure the renewal of the lease. Company CIA Insurance conducted a survey of tenants across the UK, asking questions about their personal experience , which applies to property in which they live, and relationships with landlords. Thus was obtained a fairly reliable picture of the national the views of tenants regarding rental property in the UK.

The results of the survey were designed in an infographic, which can happen a visual guide to the landlord and will certainly help better interaction of the landlord and the tenant.

 

Here are the results of the study:

1. More than 20% of people rent housing in the “Terrace-house”.

2. 8.2% of them rent a room or part of the property.

3. 32% of the tenants or did not understand or did not read the “lease property” before he signed it.

4. 2/3 of renters will never come into contact with their landlord on important housing issues.

5. ¼ Tenants in contact with their landlords every 6 months or less.

6. 16% of tenants admitted that they never paid rent on time.

7. Almost 7% of leases were terminated due to violations by tenants for the last 5 years.

8. About 3% of the tenants initiated a lawsuit against their landlords.

9. Only 1/3 of the tenants said that their landlord is available at any time for any questions. 35% said that their landlord is only available for the solution of large problems, and 10% said that their landlord is not available at all, even in the case of large problems.

10. The main features of which, in the opinion of the tenant must have the landlord, reliability, honesty and openness, the ability to always be connected and to assist in problem solving and quick organization of home repair, if a failure has occurred.

11. Among the most important factors that contribute to the renewal of leases, was named the low rent, a good basic overhaul and rapid response to complaints. Factors such as high energy efficiency, discount for long term contract and equipment good appliances named minor.

In the end, 76% of tenants said they were happy with their housing and only 16% of the tenants are unhappy and want to change your home.
