Why Brits want to leave EU?

288Views

Passion in the UK and abroad such as membership of the United Kingdom in the European Union are increasing.

The British are prone to different types of harmonization, for short discussion of this problem, coined the term Brexit, as a merger of two words – Britain and exit.

Recently a member of the British chamber of Commerce John Logoart resigned because of his too confident statements about the benefits for Britain in the event of withdrawal from the European Union. However, London Mayor Boris Johnson a couple of days later said that in the case Britain will be freed from prison shackles.

Active companies Brexit was last year, before the parliamentary elections. Winning the Tory party of David Cameron, so as not to lose votes of its voters, there was nothing left to do but to promise them that the country will hold a Referendum where popular vote will decide the future membership of the United Kingdom in the EU.

Why the British, after 43 years of membership in the European Union suddenly decided to get out of it?

There are several aspects of this issue.

1. The financial aspect. Direct financial costs now exceed revenues – for example, last year, the UK paid to the EU budget of £13 billion and received £4.5 billion, thus the net contribution of UK to the EU economy was £8.5 billion – and this, incidentally, is 7% of the annual costs the UK national health service NHS. But it is necessary to consider indirect benefits from Britain’s membership in the European Union. The existing rules provide duty free UK over 50% of exports to EU countries. The skeptics thus argue that the vast majority of small and medium companies can not trade with the EU, limited to a huge regulatory burden. Already counted that in a worst case scenario Brexit, the UK could lose 2.2% of its GDP by 2030 – not so much when you consider that during the recession period of 2008-2009 the United Kingdom has lost about 6% of GDP. Meanwhile, given the “peregovorshchiki” the British, it can be expected that the UK will be able to negotiate and get yourself a free trade agreement with Europe – in this case, in the case of Brexit, GDP will grow by at least 1.6 percent.

2. The migration aspect, which has a direct impact on the labour issue. The migration issue is acute in all the countries of Continental Europe and it is obvious that more people want to move to the UK than leave it. Britain wanted to regulate the rules of migration. This does not mean that the result of a Brexit will decrease the number of migrants – the British realize that the lack of workforce can hold back the economy, reducing its potential for growth, and young migrants are good for the economy. But in the case of withdrawal, Britain will be able to solve the issues of migrants and paying benefits, regardless of Brussels. It is not excluded that more stringent rules of migration will help to release jobs for local workers and increase wages, which is good for the British themselves, but not very good for their employers and the economy as a whole.

3. Legal Aspect. The English judicial system evolved over the centuries and is respected globally as British lawyers are known for their reputation of incorruptible professionals. It is no coincidence that the Russian state Corporation that is in the “High Court of her Majesty” defend their international financial interests. However, Britain’s membership of the EU gives priority to the European Court of justice. In the result, increasingly, there are situations when it is not very competent, sometimes openly indifferent and often corrupt judges from Europe repeal the decision of one of the most impartial courts in the world. The British, educated in the best traditions of law, honor and justice are very sensitive to such legal experiments .

4. National authenticity. This point touches on a very sensitive area – life morals of the British. The English have a very specific lifestyle. They are accustomed to adjust their lifestyle not by laws, documents and rules and honor and dignity. This is a very simple and intuitive way of behavior that makes life much easier when you are among your own people. But many non-local people brought up in a system of values and do not limit themselves by decency, see this as a weakness of the British and try to use this weakness to your advantage. In this case, the British system is trying to protect itself and begins to introduce various formal rules and laws that were previously unnecessary. This situation is not like the British and for many this is the main reason for dissatisfaction is too closely integrated with the EU.

For the majority of indigenous Brits of the last two aspects are crucial and they definitely will vote for a British exit. But the task of the ruling party of conservatives is to preserve the existing membership of the UK, says Cameron “in the new favourable conditions for the country” . It should be noted that now in the polls, the votes are divided equally and nobody can predict what will be the result of the referendum, scheduled for 23 June 2016.
