To live near the water – the most sought-after desire of the British buying property in the UK

The desire to have a house or apartment near the water continues to be one of the most sought after desires of the British. About 61% of people would want to buy such housing.

Company Strutt & Parker held its regular study according to which the most desirable place is the seaside. To live by the sea dreaming about 62% of the respondents. Only 15% said that they would like on the lake, and 4% on the Bank of the canal.

The most popular kind of real estate was a cottage by the sea – about 41% of respondents were in favour of this type of real estate, 24% would like to live in a modern house on the river Bank and 10% dream of a penthouse overlooking the river or the sea.

To the question: “Why would you want to live by the sea?” – 58% of respondents said that life on the shore relaxes, 47% wish to admire the sea and water landscapes, 41% choose beach properties because of clean air, 29% believe that living near the water will improve their health, 23% would like to be closer to the wild and 23% would like to do water sports – surfing, swimming, boating or fishing. For 10% life near the sea is the dream of a lifetime, and 5% just want to go back to the place of his childhood.

It is not surprising that many Britons dream of a life by the sea. A morning jog on a sandy beach, fantastic scenery, fishing or water walking on your own boat – what could be better?

New technologies allow us to find a better balance between personal life and work. More and more companies offer their employees to work from home that enhances productivity, if the employee is in a comfortable environment. About 64% of people think that people living near the water, happier than those that live outside of water, and 56% said that people living near the water, and healthier physically and spiritually.

Thus, the British are somehow trying to move closer to the water. Someone planning to do it now, someone in 10 years, and someone in 30 years. Some people are going to buy property on the water as second homes, and some as main. However, 59% of respondents agreed that in spite of the proximity of water, it is also important to be near major cities such as London or Edinburgh.
