Brexit: the naked triumph of the ignorant or the collapse of democracy?

The British public in shock and disbelief.

For nearly two months from June 23, when a margin of 1.3 million votes in Britain voted to exit the European Union, but the passion for this reason I do not cease to haunt the minds of the British people. Actual, British society was divided into two opposing camps – those who voted for secession from the European Union, “Braciere” and those who voted to stay – “Rimanere”

Now, when it would seem that the outcome of the confrontation decided in favor of one party democratic way – by the direct vote of the people, the dispute moved into the plane – definitions: “what is democracy ?” and generally, ” A democracy is it?”, and, “If the result of democracy the country has a bleak Outlook, whether it is necessary generally?”

Of course, first and foremost, are outraged by the outcome of the vote “Rimanere” and they can understand, after all, a small majority “Rexiter” plunged the country into a state of perennial instability and uncertainty for the sake of illusory ideas “to be independent from the EU.” Without going into the social portrait of the enemy the standard of the European Union, Rimanere branded their opponents as much – “a bare majority of uninformed, ignorant and petty voters” and call as soon as possible to think again and reverse its decision, which will be devastating for the country and children’s future. Moreover, it is proposed not to count the vote in compliance with democratic principles, as the will of the majority, as it turned out, there is no rationalism and cold calculation, but there is only a momentary mood, erroneous, based on false propaganda judgment and instincts. “How can you call democratic system under which jeopardizes the future of the country and the welfare of our children?” – say the people whose voices were in the minority.

There was also voices questioning the very majoritarian voting system. In the case of the British referendum it turned out that 17 million, less than a third of the total population 55-millionths of great Britain decided the fate of the whole country.

Those who voted for Brexit, has charged that few of them can bring under his position clear and well-reasoned arguments that people went to vote , guided by any one insignificant personal motive, being under the influence of the media or on the basis of racist and xenophobic attitudes .

Themselves “Braciere” retort that they care about the future of the nation, the only salvation of the nation is to be freed from “the shackles of the European Union” and the racist “Rimanere” because they are pompous superiority complex and the arrogance to speak out about those who were in the majority as uneducated, ignorant idiots.

“Braciere” I believe that “Rimanere” exaggerating the catastrophic economic downturn that followed as a result of Brexit and the identity of the nation is more important. Rimanere think that Brexit would have a devastating impact on the British economy and the denial or concealment of this fact only exacerbates it.

The parties accuse each other that the other party did not bother to read all the rules and principles of the European Union. Moreover, expressed the opinion that members of Parliament are not obliged to ratify the referendum results, if results do not meet the interests of the nation. The only question is – who is authorized to define what exactly are those interests.

Meanwhile, the Kingdom is reaping the fruits of the referendum. The pound Sterling fell from 23 June against the dollar by 13%. First estimates of the market industrial production for July, the cost of production due to more costly imports increased by 6.5% , the cost of consumer goods increased by 0.6% for the first time in two years. Expected inflation at 2% until the end of the year .

Top managers of large foreign banks located in the city, thinking about the transfer of its headquarters to the countries of continental Europe. But it is at least several tens of thousands of jobs that will lose the London.

On the London real estate market the number of objects posted for sale, 27% higher than last year’s indicators. Of course, the outflow of funds by investors is due primarily to the high Stamp duty for expensive housing that is not associated with Brexit, however, together with uncertainty of investors in connection with the UK out of the EU, this situation may spread to other regions of the United Kingdom.

Newly minted Prime Minister Theresa may assures its citizens that they will do everything possible to preserve London as a financial capital of the world, however, bankers prefer to expect what the outcome of the negotiations, and to conduct its business in the Single market of the European Union without having to worry about moving their employees and enjoy offices on the continent.
