193Views

As soon As the market for the sale of residential property in the UK continues to suffer from lack of supply, rents continued to rise. Rising rents in December 2017 compared to December 2016, was 1.7%, reaching average values of £907 per month.

The Eastern part of the Midlands saw the highest increase in rents – at 4.6%, the lowest rents are rising in Wales and the North-East. In the South-West, North-East and in Northern Ireland the rent increased by about 3% In Wales, rents have fallen over the year by 0.8% in Scotland rose by 1.8%.

Rent for property in London, the most expensive region of the UK for the year grew by only 1%. Meanwhile, the average rent for an apartment in London is in 1524 a month.

Data for the 2017 show that, most likely, inflation in the rental market will be slower than overall inflation for necessities. As a General note bi-directional movement of rental rates across regions, however, the dynamics of prices, when compared with 2015, 2016, equal to the opposite. The regions with the fastest growing rents in 2015 and 2016 saw a slowdown in growth or a fall in interest rates in 2017 and on the contrary – in the previously sestonic regions are marked by rising rents.
