Why I suggest not azure or Paris, namely the Dordogne….?
I know almost all the corners of France. Even small villages and towns. I wanted to know more about the country where you live. Then one day, returning from Montpellier (South of France) in Saint-Emilion (Bordeaux, South West) where I lived, decided to change the route. And got into a real fairy tale. Oak and pine forests, rivers and mountains….the air was filled with the smell of roses, herbs, pure spring water. The summer had been hot, but the heat was not felt. Among all this beauty towered castles. Were visible only those that are above. Surrounded by century old oak trees, they looked solemn and proud. I was hard to surprise the castles. In the heart of Bordeaux and St Emilion there were hundreds of them. But the beauty of these castles was some mystery in conjunction with the virginity of the nature. “Where are we?-she asked her husband.-In The Dordogne. This, too, Aquitaine, and Bordeaux, but I guess people here are more intelligent. They didn’t cut down all the forests for vineyards”.
About the vineyards. In Dordogne by the Romans was imported and planted the first vine. It is from the Purple Dordogne, the grapes are moved to the Bordeaux region. In the 13th century, the wine from Bergerac was supplied on the table of the English Royal house, as well as in Holland, Germany… the Romans found the climate and land of the Dordogne is more suitable for wine production. And for good reason. Rainy April, may, gentle, hot, dry summers, gentle September and a mild winter have for wine. Tulips are blooming in February, and roses – all year round.
Perhaps it is this exceptional quality regional food.
The people are very friendly. No one will look askance in your direction, because you are born here or you’re a foreigner. You bought a property and decide to change the layout or to make repairs – you will instantly suggest the best option. And not one where can charge you in three road, but the one that suits you perfectly. He lives in the Dordogne lot of wealthy Englishmen, Germans, Dutch, therefore it was used to working with people who have not broke, but value every cent.
I decided to offer locks with a fairly large territory, lakes or rivers. You will be able to design your own Paradise with my own hands. Golf, tennis, horse riding, fishing and hunting. Choose castles with paths and terraces. As our old Russian estates, described by Chekhov or Turgenev.
As the Dordogne is the second place most visited by tourists after Paris, there are many interesting places, monuments, entertainment for children and adults. If you decide to settle for some time, your children have the full opportunity to learn English in the place, as many English families prefer to live in France and give the French education for their children. Parents organize small family hotels, tours, wine tasting and regional dishes.
I would like to add that the crisis in Britain gave a choice. 5 years ago to buy a castle, a windmill or a big farm in the Dordogne were practically impossible. All sold out instantly and the prices are sometimes two times higher than the current, often without repair, with old roofs and sanitation. Over the years the new owners have made all the repairs, changed almost everything….and now sell through the inability to pay loans.
The annual tax ranges from 1200 to 3500 euros for the castle from 800 sq m to 2000 sq m. This is lower than in the two – room apartment in Paris. Of land per hectare from 50 to 150 euros per year. It all depends on location. In addition, you can sell your own forest, to lease vineyards and forests while hunting, equestrian clubs, and the castle in your absence.
You have questions – ask. There is a dream – realize it!
